“New” Year Thoughts

Karen Mangine | DEC 26, 2025

Begin again. A few weeks ago, Tricia reminded us of this. We can begin again in every moment on our mat and in every moment of our walk through life.

I sometimes allow driving anxiety to challenge me. I’ve done EMDR therapy around it, employed EFT techniques, tried essential oils, and carried affirmations in the car. It’s real. It’s palpable.

When I placed Yoga Sutra 1.1 into my heart, that’s when I truly began to diminish my driving anxiety. Yoga Sutra 1.1: Now, the practice of yoga begins. Yoga is not only about the asanas—but that’s a blog for another day. For now, let’s focus on the deeper meaning of this sutra: every moment is a beginning.

Eckhart Tolle reminds us, “Life is now. There was never a time when your life was not now, nor will there ever be.”

Placing this thought into practice helped diminish my anxiety with a simple statement: “In this moment, I choose calm.” I repeated it over and over, especially when looking ahead on the freeway caused me to feel nervous. Each time, I reminded myself to stay in the present moment.

In this “new” year, my wish for you is the reminder that each moment is your life.
Each moment. Each moment. Each moment.

Reiki Blessings,

Karen
